Water-stressed Las Vegas provides the perfect backdrop for recent Ditchley conference "Water: conserving our most precious resource".

Las Vegas provided the location for the recent Ditchley conference "Water: conserving our most precious natural resource", hosted in cooperation with the American Ditchley Foundation and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

The discussions focused on a number of key issues, most prominent of which was the true value of water.  Whilst the title reflected the claimed reverence for water, in reality too much is squandered by agriculture, industry and individual, and will continue to be as long as there is a perception that it’s free and therefore without value.  There was considerable frustration around the table that efforts to persuade otherwise continue to fall on stony ground.
